Hi there,
I'm Lori.
LORI JACKSON, CLINICAL RESIDENT
MY INTEREST IN THERAPY STEMS FROM MY KNACK FOR GUIDING PEOPLE THROUGH TOUGH TIMES. I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED MY OWN CHALLENGES, NOT ALWAYS WITH EASE BUT WITH HOPE AND DETERMINATION.
I am passionate about healing and self-discovery. Everyone needs help and I’m honored to be trusted with my client’s deepest thoughts and concerns with the goal of finding healthy and effective solutions while creating new narratives for themselves. My goal is to cultivate a place and space where clients can come to develop healthy strategies and experience unconditional acceptance.
I attended Long Island University Brooklyn and earned a Masters Degree in School Counseling. I currently attend Alfred University, studying to obtain my Certificate of Advanced study in Mental Health Counseling. I am a Guidance Counselor with the New York City Department of Education. I have more than 15 years of experience working with individuals of all ages. I am currently being trained in Narrative Therapy, as my goal is to work with older adolescents, adults, couples and families.
I provide individual and group counseling to assist individuals with navigating through challenging situations. I teach individuals how to set boundaries, how to love themselves as well as how to develop coping skills. I help individuals process their problems and we work together to plan goals. I also mediate conflicts between individuals and their peers.
I am a mom of twin girls. I enjoy volunteering with Habitat for Humanity as well as participating in various community service projects with my sorority. I have a sincere interest in the welfare of others, and it is my passion to facilitate meaningful change.
